Overview
I founded StackShift and built it as a solo engineer, designing a full-stack infrastructure platform that covers application deployment, database management, domain commerce, email hosting, team collaboration, billing, and AI-assisted operations.
Architecture
Architected a three-tier system with a Go control plane, a React and TypeScript dashboard built with TanStack Start, and a worker node agent distributed across deployment servers for execution and orchestration.
Deployments
Built a CI/CD pipeline with GitHub webhook integration that clones repositories, resolves Dockerfiles, builds and pushes images, deploys to connected nodes, and streams build and runtime logs in real time.
BYOS Nodes
Implemented a bring-your-own-server system similar to Dokploy and Coolify, where users connect any VPS through an install token and StackShift provisions the server, installs the agent, and prepares it for deployment workloads.
Platform Capabilities
Supports Node.js, Go, Python, Ruby, PHP, static sites, custom Dockerfiles, direct image deployments, preview deployments, rollback, environment variable management, Compose stacks, release history, and backup and restore workflows.
Managed Services
Provisioned PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis with full lifecycle management including creation, cloning, backup, restore, metrics, and log streaming, with backups stored on AWS S3.
Commerce & Billing
Built domain commerce with OpenSRS for registration, transfer, DNS, privacy, renewals, and mail hosting, and integrated Paystack and Flutterwave for plan gating, usage tracking, limits, alerts, and invoicing.
AI Layer
Added LLM-powered build failure diagnosis with Anthropic and a RAG-based infrastructure assistant using Voyage AI embeddings for context-aware support and troubleshooting.
Operational Depth
Engineered background workers for build processing, database provisioning, billing cycles, backups, reconciliation, subscription renewals, and host health monitoring, demonstrating distributed systems and platform engineering depth.
